Black Rock Beach

Information:

Picturesque family and dog friendly beach located on the south side of Widemouth Bay, with pay as you go parking and a lovely cafe.There is also the SW coast path that is 2.8miles to Summerleaze Beach and 2 miles to Millook.

Sandymouth Beach

Information:

Sandymouth, less than 3miles from Bude via the SW coast path. Owned by National Trust. Lifeguard during peak season making it popular choice for families with dogs as well as surfers and rock-poolers. At low tide you’re able to walk to Bude’s Crooklets beach just two miles away, just bear in mind in the summer Crooklets has dog restrictions in place.

Northcott Mouth Beach

Information:

Northcott Mouth – Owned by National Trust. Budes’ closest dog friendly beach which is just over a mile from Crooklets beach. Little further out of town centre but quieter than neighbouring beaches and it can feel like a secret cove.

Duckpool Beach

Information:

Duckpool Beach, one of the reasons we have our name, is National Trust owned and is dog-friendly. Wild and rugged beach near Bude, nestled within the cliffs at the mouth of the historic Coombe Valley. Surrounded by woodlands and grasslands with a river that flows down the valley to the sea. Livestock area – so dogs must be on the lead when walking in areas.

Millook Haven Beach

Information:

A pebbly beach about 2 miles south away from Black Rock at Widemouth bay and is accessible via the coast path.

Parking an issue – so recommend parking at Widemouth and walking. Large pebble and shingle beach.

Crooklets Beach

Information:

Bude’s town beach, it has a bit of everything, popular with surfers, rock -poolers and large area of sand.

Lifeguarded from May-September.

Surfing beach and blue flag beach.

Seasonal dog ban – height of season, there are no dogs on the beach between 10am-6pm.

Large parking facilities. Level access and viewing area.

Summerleaze Beach

Information:

This is Bude’s main beach, large car park, excellent/good water quality, surfing/bodyboarders, – surfing lesson/instruction available – can book in the car park for all ages/abilities.

The beach and the Sea Pool are fully RNLI lifeguarded in the summer.

Sea Pool is free, safe seawater swimming, paddling and in the summer free swim safe lessons for children.

Seasonal dog ban – height of season, there are no dogs on the beach between 10am-6pm.

Widemouth Bay Beach

Information:

Family friendly beach, beach with cafes, toilet facilities, pay and display parking, surfing beach and blue flag beach, lifeguarded in peak season.

Seasonal dog ban on Widemouth north beach– 15th May to 30th September, there are no dogs on the beach between 10am-6pm.

Dogs allowed on Black Rock Beach all year round.

Crackington Haven

Information:

Shingle cove beach with golden sands and rock pools when the tide is out.

Family day out for walks, paddling, sandcastles and picnics.

Surfers – is smaller than widemouth so is excellent on ‘big wave’ days. Lifeguarded in the summer.

Seasonal dog ban– 15th May to 30th September, there are no dogs on the beach between 10am-6pm.
